☝️ index pointing up Skin Tones — All 5 Variants

Index pointing up is the raised finger of emphasis: number one, first, wait one moment. The side view of the finger makes the skin tone part of the sign itself, so all five modifiers are supported and used whenever the sender wants their own finger raised.

The five variants

Every variant copies exactly like the base character: tap a card and the sequence is on your clipboard, ready to paste anywhere. Skin-tone modifiers (U+1F3FB–U+1F3FF) were added to the standard in Unicode 8.0 (2015). index pointing up itself was added in Emoji E0.6 (2010).

Usage and context

It marks rankings as #1, asks for a beat — “one moment ☝️” — and opens a point in lists: “one thing first”. A modified version makes it your raised finger, common in emphatic replies; the yellow default is the generic index. It pairs with numbers and stars in ranking posts.

One cultural layer: in some Muslim contexts the raised index finger is the tawhid sign — one God — used in religious settings. The everyday online use is the secular “one/attention”, and the context usually makes the intent obvious.
