🙏 folded hands Skin Tones — All 5 Variants

Folded hands carry two well-established meanings: prayer and gratitude, plus in Japan a third — please or thank you, read from the same pressed-palms gesture used in greetings. Because it is a hand gesture, all five skin-tone modifiers are available, and choosing one is common when the sender wants the gratitude or request to read as their own hands rather than an anonymous symbol.

The five variants

Every variant copies exactly like the base character: tap a card and the sequence is on your clipboard, ready to paste anywhere. Skin-tone modifiers (U+1F3FB–U+1F3FF) were added to the standard in Unicode 8.0 (2015). folded hands itself was added in Emoji E0.6 (2010).

Usage and context

In practice it lands as “thanks so much” or “please” far more often than as literal prayer, and it pairs naturally with hearts and blessing contexts. A skin-tone modifier adds a personal touch in apologies and thank-you replies, where the plain yellow version can feel more generic. In condolences it usually stays unmodified out of respect for the moment.

Nothing tricky in most regions — but if the reader is Japanese, expect them to read “please/thank you” before “prayer”.
